Assessment and Reporting

The first of two formal report cards for the 2024-2025 school year will be available for viewing through your MyCBE account on January 27, 2025.  Please note that Report Cards are no longer printed for families. Should your family require a printed report card, please contact your student’s teacher to make appropriate arrangements. In addition to the report card, schools communicate with parents/guardians about student progress on an ongoing basis in a variety of ways.

Assessment happens every day, in every classroom, throughout the school year. Assessing a student’s progress is one of the most important ways we support the continued learning of our students.

The CBE has developed some resources related to assessment and report cards to help you learn more about your student's learning. These resources can be found on the Bridlewood School website under Assessment and Reporting.

As always, parents/guardians are highly encouraged to contact teachers to address concerns, questions, etc., relating to their individual student.

Staffing

On Monday January 13, we will welcome Tracy Goddard to our Educational Assistant team. Tracy will be with us for 20 hours per week, adding additional learning support to students and teachers throughout the school.

Kindergarten Registration

Registering your child for school for the first time is an exciting milestone and we look forward to welcoming them to Bridlewood School!

Kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year will begin on Monday Jan. 13, 2025. Children can be registered for kindergarten if they turn five years old on or before Dec. 31 of the school year they will be in kindergarten.

For example, when registering for the 2025-2026 school year, the child must turn five on or before Dec. 31, 2025.

Parents can find information on kindergarten registration on our website.

Absences and Late Arrivals

Thank you for your continued efforts  to ensure your student attends school regularly and arrives on time in the morning.  Regular attendance and timely arrival are key factors contributing to student success in school.

Schools in Alberta are required to inform families of high absence rates where late arrival and attendance issues are noted. Families are notified to bring awareness to the cumulative impact of missed days and hours of instruction.  For example, over the course of the school year, an absence rate of 10% equates to an entire month of missed school days. If the pattern persists at the same rate yearly, by grade 10 this would equate to one full year of lost instruction and learning.

Please connect with us, should you wish our support to help improve your student's timely arrival and attendance.

Wishing you a good week ahead.

Chris, Joanne, and the team at Bridlewood School
