Hello Bridlewood Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the 2025–26 school year, the bittersweet feelings of anticipation, celebration, and farewells begin to collide. With so few days remaining, we have some important updates to share regarding the end of this year and exciting developments for next year. Please read on to learn more.
Staffing Updates
We are pleased to share that our school has been awarded two additional teaching positions as part of the provincial commitment to reduce class sizes. At this point, we are planning to direct these positions toward our Grade 1 and Grade 6 classes. This means we are now planning for four classes at each of these grade levels rather than the three originally anticipated. This is very good news for our students and school community.
We are also looking forward to opening a specialized classroom for students in the 2026–27 school year. This dedicated Communication, Sensory, Social Interaction (CSSI) classroom will provide educational programming for up to six students in Grades 4–6 with multiple and complex learning, behaviour, and communication needs.
The instructional team for this classroom will include a teacher, education assistants, and a lunchroom supervisor. Student placement is determined through a careful vetting process facilitated by CBE Inclusive Education. Families interested in learning more are encouraged to visit the CBE Diverse Learning webpage.
Transportation and Safety Reminder
With our growing student population at Bridlewood School, in 2026-27 we will see additional yellow buses arriving in the morning and at the end of the school day. As a result, the loading zone will be extended.
Please remember to avoid parking in designated bus zones during posted hours and continue to use crosswalks when crossing the street.
A gentle reminder regarding jaywalking—crossing outside designated areas and navigating traffic with children is extremely risky. Children learn best through experience, and if we want them to practice safe behaviours, we must model those behaviours ourselves.
Staff Recognition
We would also like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Nancy Steeves, who will be retiring at the end of June.
Nancy is a master educator who has touched the lives of countless students, colleagues, parents, and guardians throughout her many years of service. She is a wonderful friend, a tireless mentor, and someone who consistently shows up for others. We are deeply grateful for the impact she has made on the Bridlewood community and wish her all the best in this next chapter.
