Frisbee Rob
Last week, students and staff had a fantastic time learning new skills and tackling important challenges while working with Frisbee Rob, aka Robert McLeod. During the opening assembly, Rob shared key events from his life that led him to the world of Frisbee, entertaining everyone with dazzling tricks and discussing the many records he holds in the sport of Frisbee. Perhaps most importantly, Rob set the tone for the residency by encouraging students to measure their growth not by comparing themselves to others, but by focusing on their own progress.
Following the assembly, Rob immediately began working with our K-6 classes, spending at least three 30-minute periods with each group. In addition to teaching skills like spinning, throwing, and catching, Rob introduced students to the ScreenStrong Challenge—a fantastic initiative aimed at promoting a healthy balance between screen time and other activities. While it was originally designed for this weekend, it would be great to try it out next weekend or any time!
The ScreenStrong Challenge:
- No video games
- No social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter)
- Limit to one episode of TV per day
- Ensure at least 8 hours of sleep each night
Rob uses equipment sourced from a U.S. distributor, which can sometimes be tricky for those purchasing from Canada. However, if you’re interested in browsing or purchasing, here’s the information:
Distributor: Discovering the World Disc Golf Disks and Disk Dog
Visit their dedicated page for all your frisbee needs: Order Equipment. If you experience any issues with ordering or shipping, feel free to call them at 1-714-522-2202 (they’re based in California) and mention Rob’s visit.
A big thank you to Bridlewood School Council and Society for their generous financial support in making this residency possible!
Family Movie Night
Thank you again to the adult and student volunteers who helped organize and facilitate last week’s Family Movie Night. While technology let us down, cutting short the streaming of the movie, the event is still considered a success as evidenced by the smiles and joy expressed through the mere act of coming together as a community. As one of our grade 6 student volunteers explained, “I really enjoyed volunteering, especially with my friends here too.” A full accounting of the funds raised through this event will be shared in next weeks update.
Planning for 2025-2025
As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, we kindly request early notification of any students who will not be returning to Bridlewood School for the 2025-2026 school year.
(Please note, if your student is transitioning from grade 6 to grade 7, no notification is necessary.)
Thank you for your cooperation!

Student Safety
With the warmer weather and dry sidewalks and streets we hope to see many of our students and their grownups walking, bike riding, and rolling to school.
Please review and adhere to safe walking, riding and rolling practices.
- Walk bikes and scooters when crossing at the crosswalk, on the school sidewalks and playgrounds.
- NO riding and rolling on the compound, please.
- We highly advise students to go directly home after school. Stay and play only when accompanied by caregivers.
Coming Up this Week

Upcoming Assembly
Our Grade 3 students and teachers are hosting an Earth Day assembly on Friday April 25 at 8:30AM. As always, parents/guardians and other family members are welcome to attend.
