BWS Update Oct. 9-13 | Thanksgiving, Volunteering, Google Classrooms, Well-Being Series, Forms, Fundraisers,

Dear Bridlewood Families,

It's hard to believe that we are now into the month of October. Wishing you and your family a wonderful long weekend! Here are your updates for this week:

No School on Monday

A reminder that there is no school this upcoming Monday, October 9. Schools are closed for Thanksgiving Day.

Volunteering at CBE

Looking to get involved? Apply for your police security check and get ready to support our school as a volunteer!

Google Classrooms

Classroom teachers have set up their Google classrooms for the year. This space will be used as both a teaching and communication tool with students and as a way to inform families about programming in the classroom. Please be sure to have your child show you how to log in to the classroom. Teachers of younger students will communicate to families regarding log in details.

Child & Youth Well-Being Family & Caregiver Series

The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join us in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions will be hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Services and will explore topics such as vaping, brain development, mental health, and sexual health.

CBE educators believe that parents and guardians can inspire their kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and increase protective factors – in order to do so, they need the right tools and information.

Well-being is a precondition for learning. As our understanding of student well-being continues to evolve, it is important for those that support children and youth to stay up to date on the same information so everyone can support student success.

The intention of the series is to advance student well-being by raising family and caregiver’s understanding of a variety of health-related topics.

Thank you for your time and consideration to join us.

Reminder:  Yearly Online Forms

An e-mail from the CBE to families reminding to complete online  forms has been sent out over the past few weeks.

  • Parents/legal guardians are asked to complete the following forms online (Use the SchoolEngage application that is found in your MyCBE account):
    • Demographic Verification 2023-2024-This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent/legal guardian contact information.
    • Citizenship Information Update 2023-2024-This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
    • Annual Authorization 2023-2024-This form provides consent for school and district use of personal information.
