Hello Bridlewood Parents & Guardians,

We had a wonderful first week back at school following the winter break. Our Rocks & Rings PE residency was a fantastic experience, with all students learning curling techniques, teamwork, scorekeeping, and the norms and rules of this great Canadian sport.

One of our Grade 6 teachers reported exceptionally high levels of interest and enthusiasm, noting that students were so engaged they insisted on watching streamed curling clips during their lunch break! It will be exciting for students to follow Team Canada at the upcoming Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games, with competitions beginning on February 4, 2026, the Opening Ceremony on February 6, and events running through to the Closing Ceremony on February 22, 2026.

Thank you to our Parent Council, Fundraising Society, and all families who support our fundraising initiatives. Your generosity made this residency possible, and we are grateful for your continued support.

Dogs on School Property

We have been asked to remind families that CBE Administrative Regulation AR6004 - Animals in Schools restricts animals on school property. Dogs are not permitted on school grounds except where expressly approved under AR6004 (e.g., service animals or authorized educational purposes).

Additionally, the City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw prohibits dogs on school property, including playgrounds and fields.

We have been asked to reinforce requirements and address non-compliance promptly.

Safe Drop off and pick up

We are once again reminding parents and caregivers to please exercise patience and caution during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. The safety of our students depends on everyone following pedestrian and traffic rules at all times.

  • Point, Pause, Proceed — Please do not jaywalk with your children. Use designated crosswalks and model safe pedestrian behaviour.
  • When stopping, pull up to the curb and ensure children enter and exit vehicles on the curb side only.
  • Please avoid blocking driveways, including the entrance to the staff parking lot. Park well back — at least 1.5 metres (approximately 5 feet) from driveways.
  • Do not double park. Releasing children into the middle of the street is extremely dangerous, particularly during darker winter mornings.
  • Vehicles must be parked at least 5 metres (approximately 16 feet) away from crosswalks.

Please remember that all parents, caregivers, and visitors are required to check in at the school office at all times, including before and after school. Unless a specific arrangement has been made, adults should not accompany students to their classrooms at drop-off.

Your cooperation and commitment to keeping our school community safe are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your continued support.

Student Report Cards

Kindergarten children and students in Grades 1–6 will receive their first formal report cards for the 2025–2026 school year at the end of February. Report cards are shared with families through the MyCBE app.

The CBE resource Access Online Report Cards in February 2026 provides helpful guidance for families on how to view report cards through MyCBE.

Wishing everyone a good week ahead,

Chris, Joanne, and the team at Bridlewood School.
