Open House 

We are excited to invite families to our Open House on Thursday, September 17, from 5:30–6:30 PM 

This is a wonderful opportunity for families to come into the school, tour the building, visit classrooms, and meet teachers. We look forward to welcoming families and sharing a little more about the school and the year ahead.

Be You — Our SEL Anchor Text 

This year, Be You! by, Peter H. Reynolds will serve as a shared anchor text for our school-wide focus on Social-Emotional Learning. 

The message of Be You! is simple and powerful: each of us is unique; we all have strengths to share, and we are continually learning and growing. Throughout the year, teachers will draw on themes from the book to help students develop an understanding of themselves and their relationships with others. 

Be You! will support our work around self-awareness, self-management and regulation, resilience, empathy, responsible decision-making, and belonging. Students will have opportunities to think about how they recognize and manage their emotions, respond to challenges, make thoughtful choices, appreciate differences, and contribute to a caring and inclusive community. 

Our Social-Emotional Learning work is an important part of helping every student feel welcomed, valued, supported, and equipped to do their best learning. 

Art at Bridlewood: Here, Unending 

We are excited to welcome Here, Unending, a travelling art exhibition from the AFA's TREX (Travelling Exhibition) Program, to the Gathering Area at Bridlewood. The exhibition features artwork by Alberta artists and invites us to think about our connection to the natural world and to one another. 

Art gives us an opportunity to slow down, look closely, wonder, and notice. There is no single “right” way to experience a piece of art. Students can ask themselves: What do I notice? What does this make me wonder? What does it make me feel? What might someone else see that I don't? 

These are important skills for learning and for life. They connect beautifully with our Be You! focus on self-management — taking a moment, being curious, recognizing our responses and making space for different perspectives. 

We encourage students and families to spend some time with the artwork when you are in the Gathering Area. Look. Wonder. Talk. Imagine. Create. You never know where a piece of art might take you!
