Hello Bridlewood School Families,
Here is your weekly administrator's update from Bridlewood School. Please read on for important updates, reminders, and general information.
Terry Fox Run | Rescheduled
Due to wet conditions, the Bridlewood School edition of the International Terry Fox Run scheduled for Friday, September 20 was postponed. This event will now take place on Monday, Sept. 23.
Orange Shirt Day | September 26
Bridlewood school will participate in Orange Shirt Day on Thursday September 26.
Orange Shirt Day began in 2013 when residential school survivor Phyllis Webstad shared how her orange shirt was taken away on her first day at residential school. This story is an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on history, legacy, and implications, to discuss stories of survival and strength and to share ways we can work together toward truth and reconciliation. It is also an opportunity to commit to commemorating the children who attended residential schools, recognizing their experiences, honoring them, and sharing a collective commitment to ensure that every child matters and that each student is welcome, safe, respected, and cared for in their learning community every day. Everyone is encouraged to wear something orange to school on this day.
Annual Bridlewood School Meet the Teacher September 26 | Time correction
Please note the time for the Annual Bridlewood School Meet the Teacher Open house was incorrectly communicated last week. The correct time is 5:00-7:00 pm as indicated on the school calendar.
With the correct time now established, (5:00-7:00 pm) parents/guardians are warmly encouraged to join their children/students for this informal opportunity to meet teachers and administrators, to tour the building and find out more about the learning that takes place at Bridlewood. As an added perk, our Bridlewood School Council has arranged for The Ice Cream truck to park out front of the school during our open house hours. Please consider picking up a frozen treat after concluding your school visit. Prices range from $2-$7.00.

Gratitude!
Thank you to:
The Bridlewood School Council and Fund-Raising Society for supporting the purchase of one copy of the book, Maybe: A Story about the Endless Potential in All of Us by Kobi Yamada for each of our classes. This beautiful book will serve as a touchstone for staff and students as we work together to build self-confidence and community.
"Each of us has something unique to offer the world. We all have unlimited potential and an abundance of gifts within us that, if taken advantage of, can offer something miraculous to others. Whether we are builders, dreamers, creators, inventors, entertainers, or humans meant to flood the world with goodness, we can change the world if we do all things with love.” ~ Kobi Yamada
Volunteers who help us by:
- Assisting students and photographers on picture day,
- Stamping and processing new learning materials so that we can get them in classes and into students’ hands,
- Joining us on field trips,
- Assisting shoppers at the bookfair,
- Organizing and facilitating the COBBs Fun Snack event; and much more!
Wishing you all a good weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Chris, Joanne, and the team at Bridlewood School
