Hello Bridlewood Parents/Guardians,
Please take a moment to read this week's updates.
Open House | Meet the Teacher
Thank you to everyone who attended our Open House and Meet the Teacher event. The excitement expressed by students as they shared their learning experiences and toured the building with their families is incredibly encouraging. We appreciate the support, collaboration, with families, and seeing all of you in-person!
We know that the success of your child depends on a strong partnership between your family and the CBE. If you have a question or concern, you can:
First, speak to your child's teacher. In most cases, a solution can be found at the classroom level.
If the issue remains unresolved after speaking with the teacher, schedule a meeting with Principal Chris and/or Assistant Principal Joanne.

Supporting Literacy Development at Home
Sharing books together is such an important way to build literacy skills in our beginning readers. Books can be read aloud in your home language by a family member. Following along together to an audio book is another wonderful way to share books in a meaningful way. Even just looking at the pictures together and talking about what you see builds vocabulary, background knowledge and joy and curiosity with books and reading.
Reading and writing are essential, but so is developing social and oral language skills through questions and conversations. This, again, creates spaces for authentic and powerful literacy development and home, in any language. Oral storytelling and learning from time outside on the land also creates an opportunity to enrich our children’s language development.

Bicycle Safety | Reminders
During peak times (before and after school) there are many pedestrians on the compound and walkways. Please remind students who ride bikes/scooters/skateboards that they are to dismount and walk. They are NOT to ride on the school compound and surrounding walkways. These spaces need to be safe for all.
Another point on bike safety: Bicycle helmets must be worn by all bicycle riders and passengers under the age of 18. For helmet specifications to meet Canadian safety standards, review the Alberta Traffic Safety Act, Part 6, Division 5, Sections 111 and 112.
Wishing you a "just right" long weekend,
Chris, Joanne, and the team at Bridlewood School
