Welcome Back to Bridlewood School

2026–2027 School Year

Welcome to Bridlewood School, where every student, staff member, and family is valued. We strive to create a community where everyone feels a strong sense of connection and belonging. Here, smiles are big, learning is an adventure, and we cheer one another on as we try new things, discover our strengths, and dream big.

We are thrilled to welcome students and their families back for the 2026–2027 school year. Our first day of school is Monday, August 31.

Please read on for important information regarding school start-up. This message and information will also be posted on our School Website.

Procedures | First Day of Classes

Grades 1–6

On Thursday, August 27, parents/guardians will receive an email from their student’s assigned teacher welcoming them back to school and letting them know where to meet on the first day of school. This email should arrive by 2:00 PM

Parents/guardians who have not received an email from their student’s teacher by 2:00 PM on Thursday are encouraged to contact the school office so we can assist you.

On the first day of school, students will meet their teachers outdoors at the designated meeting area identified in the introductory email. Teachers will be at their outdoor meeting areas at 7:50 AM to welcome students, parents, guardians, and caregivers.

At 8:00 AM, the bell will ring, and teachers and students will head inside to begin the school day.

Kindergarten

On Thursday, August 27, Kindergarten parents/guardians will receive a welcome email from our Kindergarten teachers.

Kindergarten children will follow a staggered entry on August 31, September 1 and 2. This means that small groups of children will attend Kindergarten for short sessions in the morning or afternoon. Your child’s schedule will be included in the teacher’s welcome email.

  • AM Kindergarten children will attend school on Friday, September 4.
  • The first Friday morning attendance for PM Kindergarten children is Friday, September 11.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Bridleridge Way, the street in front of the school, and Bridlewood Heights, the street adjacent to the staff parking lot, both become very congested during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

“Be safe, drive slow, park smart, and give space.”

To help keep everyone safe and traffic moving, please:

  • Park further away from the school and walk with younger students to their designated meeting places.
  • Always use designated crosswalks, especially during busy drop-off and pick-up periods. For everyone’s safety, do not jaywalk or walk between vehicles. Moving through traffic is extremely dangerous.
  • Do not park or stop in the designated bus area on Bridleridge Way, directly in front of the school. Our yellow buses use this area each day, and they must have clear access to safely load and unload students.
  • Do not double park.
  • Do not block driveways.
  • Park at least 5 metres from crosswalks to ensure pedestrians are visible to drivers.
  • Do not use the staff lot for drop-off or pick-up.

We all play a role in keeping our school community safe. Please drive slowly, walk carefully, park responsibly, and give one another space.

Bikes & Scooters

Adults and students riding bikes or scooters are asked to dismount once they reach school sidewalks, crosswalks, and grounds, including the compound.

For more information, please visit the City of Calgary Traffic and Pedestrian Safety page.

School Supplies

Please see the School Supplies page for details.

Students should bring:

  • Snack (low/no garbage if possible)
  • Lunch (with utensils, if needed)
  • Water bottle
  • Backpack
  • Indoor running shoes for Phys. Ed.

Please label all belongings with your child’s first name and last initial.

Noon Supervision | Grades 1–6

Please remember to register for noon supervision using your MyCBE account.

  • Noon supervision starts on the first day of school. Students eat lunch in their classrooms under the supervision of our Lunch Supervisors.
  • Please avoid nuts/nut products and foods requiring heating.
  • Send any necessary utensils.
