Hello Bridlewood Parents/Guardians,

Please take a moment to read our updates and reminders.

Spirit Week and STEM Challenge Day

We had a wonderful week celebrating our school spirit as we did crazy things with our hair, wore our PJs, and neon colours, and dressed up for Halloween.  The STEM assembly and challenge brought us together as a whole school community and in small multi-age groups situations.  It was beautiful to see students highly engaged as they worked through the problem-solving process to create sturdy towers using only marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti. Huge kudos are sent to Ms. Barge and Ms. Oluyole and their grade 2 and 3 students for creating the STEM challenge and leading our opening assembly.

Thank You

Thank you to our School Council members from the staff team who thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful array of Halloween treats you provided for us on Thursday.  We appreciate your thoughtfulness.  The balloons and candy brought many smiles!

Thank you also to the volunteers who helped with popcorn distribution on Thursday.  Again, we deeply appreciate your involvement in our school.

Digital Citizenship

Digital citizenship is about using technology and participating in digital environments. It is key to helping our students learn to use available technology responsibly in the classroom and beyond. Our school has a Digital Citizenship Plan that is updated annually, addressing how we work to build a community where we live and work together as digital citizens.

Our digital citizenship plan is now posted on the Bridlewood School website.  This year our Digital Citizenship plan includes a goal to help students develop strategies to help them balance time online and offline to promote positive mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Daylight Savings

Fall back  -  Saturday November 2.  Just a reminder to turn your clocks back one hour at midnight on Saturday.  Enjoy the extra hour of sleep!

Remembrance Day - Thursday November 7 & Indigenous Veterans Day Friday November 8

Our Grade 2 students will lead our assembly which will take place starting at 10:00am.  We approach this day with gratitude as we honour those who have served in times of war. Remembrance Day is a time to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans, not only in World War I and World War II but in all conflicts since, including Korea, Vietnam, and various peacekeeping missions.  Students who are involved in service organizations such as guides, scouts etc., are encouraged to wear their uniforms to school on November 7.

Non-Instructional Day - Friday November 8

This day of professional learning began in October 2021 and is designed for all staff to develop and apply foundational knowledge of Indigenous Education in the CBE, regardless of role. We are committed to acknowledging and responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, which includes providing education on the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Indigenous rights, Indigenous law, and Indigenous-Crown relations (TRC Call to Action #57).

On Sept. 1, 2022, Piikani Elder Leonard Bastien gifted our day of learning with the Blackfoot name Maatoomsii'Pookaiks (MAAH-DOOM-SEE-BOO-GAAKS), which translates to putting children first. This name upholds and sustains the CBE mission: Students come first, and we are grateful to Elder Leonard for this beautiful gift.

Staff Parking Lot

A gentle reminder that this lot is only to be used for dropping off and picking up students when special permission has been granted by the school administration.

Wishing you all a good weekend,

Chris, Joanne, and the team at Bridlewood School
